Major Purposes Develops projects from conception to completion Interacts with out-of-house freelancers, authors, and writers to ensure implementation of project goals for completion within budget and schedule Collaborates with other in-house editors, design, catechetical, and production for timely completion of a project within budget II. Major Responsibilities Edits manuscripts to specification to ensure quality products that are on time and within budget Collaborates with design and production to troubleshoot problems at all stages of editorial, design, and production so that assigned projects are completed on time and within budget Collaborates with authors and colleagues to conceptualize and develop content outlines for new products based on knowledge of the market and analysis of the competition Creates editorial guidelines as assigned Pulls together all resources needed (people, documents, equipment) to complete a project Provides status updates on projects, responds to correspondence, and maintains files pertaining to individual projects and authors Continues professional development by keeping abreast of educational trends through reading and by attendance at workshops and conferences Supports sales as requested III. Position Requirements Bachelor�s degree in English or other applicable area; teaching experience desirable Successful previous editorial experience Excellent communication skills Knowledge of desktop publishing Specific skills of negotiating, resolving conflict, explaining policies and techniques, coordinating people and projects Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style and ability to learn Loyola style manuals Knowledge of copyediting and proofreading symbols Available to travel as needed

Impact of Decisions Handles daily scheduling and prioritizing of work, solves problems creatively, resolves conflict to keep a project on schedule Ensures adherence to project guidelines and style for all components of project Determines extent of and implements editorial revisions to manuscript Refers major project-wide decisions to executive editor or editorial director Collaborates with executive editor, senior editor, design, and production on design and schedule of project Works with authors and freelancers V. Principal Accountabilities Accountable for implementing project guidelines, meeting schedule and budget requirements, and developing a project to completion VI.
